AI Challenges: Plan a Whole Year of Gym Challenges in Minutes

For GymsFor CoachesRetention

Challenges are one of the best retention tools a gym or coach has. A shared goal for a fortnight fills classes, gets the group talking, and gives people a reason to show up. The problem is never whether they work. It is finding the time to run them. You have to think one up, set it up, track it, score it, then do it all again next month. So most gyms manage one or two a year and leave the rest of the calendar empty.

AI Challenges is built to fix exactly that. You tell Fittest to build you a challenge, or a whole year of them, and it plans the lot. You approve what you like, and from there they run and score themselves. Your only real job is handing out the prizes.

Set it up, forget it, hand out the prizes

Turn on AI Challenges and, instead of a blank form, you get a starting point. Ask it to build you a challenge for the next year and it proposes a full calendar, laid out for you to review. Click any one to approve, deny or edit it. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Once approved, each challenge starts and ends on its own, tracks every member automatically, and scores itself on a live leaderboard. There is no spreadsheet, no manual tallying, no chasing people for their numbers. The challenge runs in the background and you step in at the end to reward the winners.

Tailored to your country and your gym

A generic challenge calendar is easy to ignore. What makes this work is that it is built around you.

You set the country you are in, and the AI factors in that country's seasonal moments and holidays, because a challenge that lands with the time of year pulls more people in. A New Year reset, a summer push, a festive-season streak: different countries have different calendars, and the challenges follow yours.

It also builds around the exercises your gym or coaching actually likes. If your floor lives on rowing and wall balls, or your clients are working towards a specific goal, the challenges reflect that rather than dropping in movements you never program.

Every type of challenge, covered

Whatever kind of competition suits your members, there is a format for it:

  • Points challenges that track total points earned.
  • Group challenges, where teams compete against each other.
  • Exercise challenges that track a specific movement, and exercise-group challenges where teams compete on one exercise.
  • Workouts, solo or in teams.
  • Weight loss by percentage lost, solo or in teams.
  • Steps, solo or in teams.
  • Calories burned, solo or in teams.

You can run any of them as a straight ranked leaderboard, or set a collective target that the whole gym works towards together, where everyone's score adds up to one shared number. You can score from Fittest-app workouts only or include all gym points, limit the leaderboard to the top few participants, and run anything up to ninety days.

Why a full calendar beats the odd one-off

One challenge a year gives you one spike of energy. A rolling calendar gives people a reason to come back every month. That is the difference between a gimmick and a retention engine. When there is always something running, always a leaderboard to climb and a prize to chase, members build the habit of checking in and taking part. It is the same logic behind reducing member churn: give people a reason to turn up this week, every week.

The reason gyms have not done this before is not that they did not want to. It is that running twelve well-designed challenges a year by hand is a part-time job. AI Challenges removes the work, so the calendar can finally be full.

How Fittest helps

AI Challenges is part of Fittest for both gyms and coaches. Tell it what you want, or let it plan the year, tailored to your country's calendar and the training your members actually do. Approve what you like, edit anything you do not, and let each challenge run and score itself. All of it sits on the same platform as your live heart rate, points and leaderboards, so members compete with the wearable already on their wrist and their effort counts automatically.
